CBeebies, France Télévisions and RTBF in Belgium are broadcasting a brand new 3D animated preschool series, Big Lizard.

Big Lizard

Big Lizard is co-produced by animation studio Beakus, leading French production companies Watch Next Media and Je Suis Bien Content, and Belgian producer Bardaf! Productions. The independent, multi-Academy Award® and BAFTA® award winning studio Aardman is handling global distribution for the 52 x 7’ show, which was co-created by Beakus’ Steve Smith and French director Amaël Isnard.

Big Lizard is a comedy adventure series about a young astronaut called Cosima and her new best friend, Big Lizard. After their supercomputer D.O.R.I.S. glitches, scientist Dad and his daughter Cosima crash land their spaceship on Proxima B – a planet so new that even dinosaurs haven’t evolved yet. They discover a world that has all the ingredients for life, as it resembles prehistoric earth with volcanoes and swamps, giant creatures and bizarre flora. Proxima B is both familiar and alien. Immediately, Cosima befriends chaotic but loveable Big Lizard, who is actually the first fish to have grown legs and stepped out of the ocean! With a cast of unusual creatures, prehistoric landscapes to explore, and a glitching supercomputer, there’s a lot of adventure and fun to be had!

The voice cast includes Josh Widdicombe (The Last Leg, QI, Taskmaster) as Dad, Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks, Doctor Who) as D.O.R.I.S., and Lois Sefton (123 Number Squad) as Cosima.

Big Lizard has been a long time in the making and that shows onscreen. A wonderful crew poured love and attention into every frame of this beautiful series, and we’re excited to see the audience’s reaction.
