UK Screen Alliance announces newly elected Facilities Council

UK Screen Alliance welcomes the appointment of four new Council representatives to oversee the facilities members over the next term.

The Facilities Council decides UK Screen Alliance’s policies affecting facilities and service providers in post-production, VFX and studios. Elections take place every two years, with each representative serving two terms. These representatives are elected by our Facilities members.

The four newly elected members are Jens Christensen, Post Production Director at Pinewood Group; Lizi Bedford, Head of Studio (Film) at Framestore London; Tom Balkwill, Founder & Managing Director at Dirty Looks; and Vittorio Giannini, Director of Business Development & Strategy at Freefolk.

These representatives join the existing Council, which comprises of Rich Moss, Managing Director at Gorilla Group; Chris Burn, Group Managing Director at Milk VFX; Natascha Cadle, Co-Founder and Creative Director at ENVY; Stefano Salvini, General Manager, London at DNEG; Nick Long, Managing Director at Salon Limited; Rowan Bray, Group Managing Director at Clear Cut Pictures; Kate Hollingsworth, Director, Content Security and Regulatory Compliance at Streamland Media; Gemma Nicholson, Founder at Post Super; and Rachael Penfold, CEO at One of Us.

Lucy Killick, COO Film and Episodic at Framestore, and Matthew Brown, CEO at Imaginarium Studios, have stepped down from the Council. We would like to thank them for their wise advice and commitment during their period of office.

Jens Christensen, Post Production Director at Pinewood Group

Jens Christensen has worked in Audio Post Production for 30 years, starting as a runner and working his way up to Re-Recording Mixer. He worked as a mixer in both the UK and Denmark, before joining Pinewood Group in 2001 to work in the localisation team providing Foreign Version Mixing services for several major studios. Jens helped establish Pinewood’s reputation as the leading facility for localisation mixing and was head of the localisation team for six years before becoming Post Production Director, a role in which he manages Pinewood’s Audio Post Production, Localisation and Screening Services teams and facilities.

Lizi Bedford, Head of Studio (Film) at Framestore London

Lizi Bedford began her career with projects like Avatar and the Harry Potter series, going on to work in VFX production on over 70 films. Her responsibilities since have involved heading Framestore’s London film division as Crewing Manager, Head of Production and Global Head of Resourcing, where she worked on films and oversaw all crewing for Framestore’s network of global studios. As Head of Studio, London, she manages Framestore’s UK film division, which has been responsible for the likes of Wicked, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Civil War, and Wonka.

Tom Balkwill, Founder & Managing Director at Dirty Looks

Tom Balkwill is the Founder and Managing Director at Dirty Looks and has been running the independent Baselight grading space in London for 14 years and Dirty Looks Belgium for 7 years. Tom began his career in film editorial, then trained colourists on Baselight for Filmlight, prior to starting Dirty Looks. His extensive portfolio credits include Detour, Palio, Under The Skin and more.

Vittorio Giannini, Director of Business Development & Strategy at Freefolk

Vittorio Giannini has built his career around high end VFX and post production, initially in advertising and more latterly in film and episodic tv. Having post produced large scale and complex projects with some of the industry’s leading directors and producers, Vittorio has gone on to run businesses and hold senior management positions in some of London’s most reputable studios. He is currently Director of Business Development & Strategy at Freefolk.
